In the early reports of the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, it seems as if the 4.7-inch screen of the regular 6 model is appealing to the majority of Apple smartphone buyers. According to a Consumer Intelligence Research Partners report, the iPhone 6 has accounted for nearly 70 percent of all iPhone sales, while the iPhone 6 Plus was just under 25 percent, Apple Insider reported.
It seems like the Apple smartphone market needed cellphone with a larger screen. The 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone 6 is much larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5s. However, the massive 5.5-inch display on the iPhone 6 Plus seems to be a bit large for many smartphone buyers.
The other two Apple smartphones that are still receiving a decent amount of sales after the company released the new iPhone 6 models are the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. While the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus accounted for roughly 91 percent of Apple smartphone sales in 2014, the release of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c accounted for only 84 percent of sales in the same time period in 2013.
These numbers show that there has been a lot more sales and attention on the newer iPhone 6 models, but it's likely due to the device taking on a new look with a thinner body and larger screen, Apple Insider reported.
According to the CIRP report, while the iPhone 6 is outselling the iPhone 6 Plus by nearly a 3-to-1 margin, the analysts are actually having a tough time telling how well the larger phone is selling. Even though the regular 6 model is selling more, Apple explained it is having trouble keeping the 5.5-inch-screen version on its shelves.
Buyers investing in more hard drive storage space
Another interesting piece of information the CIRP report discovered was that in 2013 , the average storage space size on iPhones was around 24 gigabytes. However, this year, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus buyers are averaging closer to 48-GB hard drives.
According to the Daily Mail, the iPhone 6 comes in three different versions that start with two-year contract prices of $199 for 32 GB, $299 for 64 GB and $399 for 128 GB. The iPhone 6 Plus is selling for $299 on a two-year contract for 16 GB, $399 for 64 GB and $499 for 128 GB.
